This workshop is being presented by a representative from the Department of Labor.
In this workshop, you will learn about the Fair Labors Standards Act (FLSA):
· Minimum Wage
· Record Keeping
· Child Labor
The representative will share how this can affect a small business. For example, the FLSA requires employers to pay covered non-exempt employees at least the federal minimum wage and overtime pay for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek. It is a federal law which establishes minimum wage; overtime pay eligibility, recordkeeping, and child labor standards affecting full-time and part-time workers in the private sector and in federal, state, and local governments. In general compensable hours worked include all time an employee is on duty or at a prescribed place of work and any time that an employee is suffered or permitted to work.
