“It’s about interacting with like-minded people and creating a support system of people like yourself, who understand the sacrifices you have to make.”

Shae Seward always had a passion for making cobblers, and enjoyed recreating the cobblers of her childhood for her friends and family. As the word spread about her delectable cobblers, Shae soon found herself busy making more and more cobblers.  Finally, she decided it was time to make her dream come true and open her own business.

Shae opened Cobblermania in 2002, a fun, friendly, family-owned business serving up fresh fruit cobblers for all to enjoy.  However, she struggled with various challenges, ranging from the arbitrary rules of the Health Department to staffing issues and logistical problems.  She eventually came to PACE in 2004 looking for guidance to bring her small business to the next level.

At PACE, she enrolled in the business start-up class, where she received guidance on her business plan and was able to discuss her needs with PACE consultants.  However, for Shae, the greatest aid came in the form of networking.  From networking breakfasts to her business start-up class, Shae received strength and support from an environment of entrepreneurs like herself, who understood the hardships of opening and operating a small business.  As an entrepreneur, she learned how to manage and take control of the challenges facing her new business, and transform them into success.

This is especially evident by the widespread recognition that she has received for Cobblermania. In the May 2, 2007 issue of the Los Angeles Times, she was featured on the front page of the food section as one of the top ten vendors in the Los Angeles area.  Furthermore, Cobblermania was featured in the July 26-August 1, 2007 issue of OurWeekly magazine, voted as the “Best of Los Angeles” for “Cakes, Cobblers & Pies.”

Currently, Shae operates at 12 farmer’s markets per week, and is in the process of opening a new storefront in downtown Los Angeles at Grand and Third Street.  Cobblermania’s storefront is set to open in late September or early October, and will be open seven days a week, from 9 am to 6 pm.  She has ambitious plans to become a national chain in the future – “no ifs, ands, or buts.”  For more information on Cobblermania, visit www.cobblermania.com .
