PROCUREMENT
All businesses need to constantly assess their markets, since marketing is the "engine" that drives every business. For companies that have been in business for at least 2 years, PACE BDC can help companies develop the tools to bid on government contracts or private contracts from large corporations.
In order to bid on such contracts, it is often necessary to become certified in one of the following programs (certifying agencies in parentheses):
• SBA 8(a) (US Small Business Administration) • Small Business Certification (SBE) - State of California • Women Owned Business (WBE) & Minority Owned Business (MBE) - (various, including City & County of LA, MTA) • Small Local Business (SLB - City of LA)
The process of becoming certified can be very daunting, involving a good deal of analysis and paperwork. For smaller businesses that qualify for our Micro-enterprise/Entrepreneur program (business in LA, less than 5 years in business, 5 employees or less, less than $200,000 in sales) but who believe that they have the capacity to bid on larger contracts PACE BDC offers low cost certifications ($25 flat fee).
